Sutton and Jackson Finish One-Two in Triple Jump at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - Senior Teniqua Sutton and sophomore Andrea Jackson took first and second place respectively in the triple jump event at the Duke Invitational, qualifying both for NCAA regionals.

Sutton's jump of 41-08.00 broke her previous school record of 40-01.25 that she set back in 2005. Along with the first place finish, Sutton also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-08.75.

Senior Rachel Blankenship, who qualified for NCAA regional in the shot put last week, finished third this weekend with a heave of 46-03.50.

Additional top finishes include junior Kwema Phillander finished seventh in the javelin (122-08) and freshman Darby Mullen earned an eighth place finish in the 5000m run Section B with a time of 18:12.97.

The Thundering Herd will be back in action April 11-12 at the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee.
